A monumental Burmese white marble sculpture of Śākyamuni Buddha, modelled seated in vajraparyankāsana, with the right hand held in bhūmisparśa mudrā and the left in dhyāna mudrā. The sculpture shows a finely pleated robe draped over the left shoulder. The serene face is characterised by highly arched eyebrows and prominent, protruding eyes; the head is broadly oval in shape and slightly flattened at the crown. The uṣṇīṣa takes the form of a low truncated cone, surmounted by a finial resembling a lotus bud, which in Indian-derived iconography represents a sacred jewel.
