Molded in high relief, with a grotesque mask at the top, flanked by female terms. Both sides identically decorated with foliate scroll and blossoms issuing from the flower basket on top towards the blossom-enclosed head below.
In very good condition: the top pierced below the mask with one later and two original holes, the bottom pierced with one small central later hole just below the lower inner edge.
Ca. 1675-1685, possibly molded after a silver or wood period example. Presented on a custom-made modern iron stand, mounted with a 19th C. glass mirror plate.
One of only four examples of Dutch Delft mirror frames currently recorded, the other three in the collection of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam.
Size (excl. stand): 38,6 x 31,4 cm
