165

Dia.: 9,2 cm (the largest)
Dia.: 8,6 cm (the smallest)

Provenance: Collection of Drs. M.B.P.M. Boerma, The Netherlands, by descent to the current owners.

A group of ceramics from the Jepara wreck, Southern Song dynasty (1127–1279).
Discovered off the north coast of Central Java in 1998, the Jepara wreck yielded over 10,000 ceramic pieces, including celadon dishes, kendi and tableware produced at Fujian kilns for overseas export. Coins inscribed jianyan confirm a date within the reign of Emperor Gaozong (1127–1162). The cargo testifies to the scale of Fujian’s ceramic trade through the port of Quanzhou, the largest maritime hub of the Song–Yuan period.
