The plaque depicts the biblical scene of Abigail presenting provisions to David, illustrated in I Regum, chapter 25 (modern 1 Samuel 25), as indicated by the inscription beneath the scene. Abigail kneels before David and his armed followers, bringing bread and supplies in order to appease him and prevent his revenge against her husband Nabal.
