Melchior d’Hondecoeter (Utrecht 1636 - 1695 Amsterdam) was one of the foremost Dutch painters of bird and animal subjects during the Golden Age. His paintings are represented in major museum collections, including the Rijksmuseum, Mauritshuis and the National Gallery.
