A Chinese famille rose armorial tureen and cover with the arms of Backwell quartering Tyringham for the English market, Yongzheng/Qianlong

Provenance: 
- Previously in the collection of Käthe & John Marsing. 

Decorated with the arms of Backwell quartering Tyringham. Elizabeth Tyringham, daughter of Sir William Tyringham, married John Backwell in 1678. John was the son of Edward Backwell, goldsmith and banker in London. Their eldest son, Tyringham Backwell (for whom this service was most likely made), married Elizabeth, daughter of Sir Francis Child, Lord Mayor of London from 1698-1699. Tyringham Backwell died in 1754. This service was more than likely brought from Canton by Tyingham's cousin; Duncomb Backwell, captain of the Princess Royal (1738) and the Northampton (1741). Duncomb was lost at sea in 1746.

- The cover in quasi-excellent condition, with minor superficial wear to the gilding. And a superficial chip to the inner foot rim.
- The tureen generally in good condition, with minor superficial wear to the gilding. A few superficial chips and spots of glaze loss to the handles.

- 蓋子近乎全品，金彩輕微磨損，內底邊一個飛皮。
- 溫鍋整體品相非常良好，金彩輕微磨損，兩個耳都有幾處飛皮和剝釉。
